What kind of creative do you identify as?

I most identify as a fashion content creator and writer focused on sustainable and vintage fashion and sharing my personal style.

What do you write about?

I think of my Substack as an ode to my old fashion journal I kept during high school when I first started getting interested in fashion. It came from my own personal desire to have a place to really express my thoughts and opinions on fashion in a more long-form medium, something I didn’t think I could effectively do on Instagram. Topics range from my personal fashion favorites at the moment, trends I notice, secondhand shopping finds, emerging designers I love, and whatever else I feel like sharing!

What inspires you?

In terms of fashion, I am inspired by so many things from film, art, nature, vintage fashion, old runway shows, people I see on the street, emerging designers, the list goes on and on. In terms of creativity, I’m so inspired by the community of fellow creatives I’ve found through social media over the past couple years. Seeing people bring their visions to life inspires me to keep doing the same!

What’s been your most memorable experience as a creative so far?

Probably when I modeled for one of my favorite designers, Samantha Pleet, last year. I had been a fan of Samantha for a while and had previously bought pieces from her so it was really a full circle moment when she asked me if I wanted to model for her new collection!

What message do you want your audience to hear?

If you have even the smallest inkling to pursue something, just try it! It doesn’t even have to be shared online or with anyone, it can just be for yourself!

What are your current thoughts on sustainability in fashion?

I feel like we’ve hit a point where we, as consumers, are not easily impressed by a brand saying it is sustainable, that’s already expected. A lot of brands claim to be sustainable but are not truly transparent on their practices, where they are sourcing their materials, who they are working with, etc. A lot of times I discover brands on Instagram that have phrases like “sustainable” and “ethically made” in their bio but when I go on their website to get more information, there’s no details. Brands will have to do more than just throw out buzz words to keep a dedicated audience base and thrive in the ever-changing fashion world.
